Stage 1 - Making the white sauce:
- Put all ingredients into a small pan
- Stir continuously with a whisk until boiling
- Turn down and stir regularly for about 2 minutes, then remove from the heat
- Add the pepper, salt and grated nutmeg
- Add ¾ of grated cheese (saving the rest for the topping) and stir in gently until it melts
Stage 2 - Layering the Pasta:
- Take a rectangular oven-proof dish and put a layer of the meat sauce across the bottom of it
- Add a layer of lasagne sheets
- Add a layer of white sauce, working from the corners in towards the centre of the dish
- Add a layer of meat sauce working from the centre outwards
- Add another layer of lasagne sheets
- Add a layer of white sauce, then top it off with the rest of the grated cheese
Stage 3 - Finishing off:
- Put in to the oven at 180C and bake until top is browned
- Remove from oven and allow 10-15 minutes standing time before serving
